The third trimester, the beginning of the end, the last 13 weeks – CHEERS to Week 27! Just a few short months and we will be a family of 4 – 5 if you’ll allow me to include Lucy, our little Yorkie.
This week was a good one. We moved Walter into his big boy room, got the remainder of our outdoor toys (parents and children alike), I purchased and tried Water Wine, and we started to see more people.
Walter’s New Room
At Walter’s last Dr’s appointment (18 months) she told us to get him off the bottle and into his new room as soon as possible. The reason behind it wasn’t because of his age it was because of the new baby coming. She said that you want him to make these moves so that he doesn’t fall into a regression period and think both of those things are happening due to the baby.
This was ultimately harder for Mommy. He’s still my little boy, and I know they grow, but so far every part of him has been my favorite. I once read that mom’s having boys is the longest and hardest breakup to go through. That’s heartbreaking news. But I will have to remember to cherish the times I do have with him, especially now as an only child.
Moving him was difficult because now he is completely down the other end of the house and it makes me nervous. I can’t hear him as well and he’s not as close to us as the nursery. He of course took it like a champ. I on the other hand was turning the monitor back on as soon as it went dark, making sure the volume was up in case he needed me in the middle of the night, but he’s a peach and slept just fine.
Transitioning for him has never been difficult. The bottle was as simple as just replacing it with a sippy cup (which he was already using) and putting him straight into his highchair to feed him instead of snuggling on the couch with a bottle. The last two things we have to do in the next year is take away the pacifier (currently only used in the crib) and potty train.
We purchased new toys for all of us. Walter got a turtle sandbox, a small grill, and we are awaiting a playhouse for him. Since some stuff was put in our cabana, because there is more shade there, we also bought a play mat to put down. We had to move quite a few things around in order for some toys to fit. I will show that off in the My Oasis section once it becomes available.
By the way, if you put the water table on the play mat you’ll have to clean that up nightly. It’s exhausting because we bought the kind that links together vs. one big mat. But wanting to be sure no mold grows we have to be safe and clean it up each time. I do like putting it on the grass more when the sun is beating down on us. Just some food for thought.
The adults also got some new toys! We finally got a new furniture setup. We’ve been in our home for just over 3 years and we kept talking about it. Like everyone else during this time, we won’t be going on vacation, so we thought we would make our outdoor area cozier. It’s super cute and now we are looking for an outdoor rug.
Alcohol Free Drinks
Seeing as we are in the middle, or maybe the beginning of the end, of the virus I want to drink like the rest of you. Unfortunately, I am unable to do so for obvious reasons. I went on a quest to find mocktails, wine, and ciders that I like that are alcohol free. I found quite a few but have narrowed down my favorites.
Mocktails was pretty simple for me: flavored seltzer waters. If you want to get fancy you can mix in more juice and a few lime wedges (or any citrus for that matter). I don’t actually like soda so this is not my go to drink per-se, but it is something that works and tricks my brain. In future posts, I will share some recipes with you.
Wine was my most recent adventure and I came across Wine Water. Served chilled it is refreshing. Plus, it comes in a few different varieties: white, red, still, gently sparkling – and they just released a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon style.
Lastly, I enjoy hard ciders and came across a French Apple Cider that I purchase at OEC Brewing. These are good because they seem like they are hard, they are definitely the heaviest of the bunch too.
Seeing Other People
We finally opened up our home to a few new people and went to visit a few as well.
Walter and I enjoyed being able to see my parents again. We all went to my sister’s and we had a couple of friends over. It was great to see people, but I am still being picky on who we see. Other people are more out and about, constantly sick, or still have underlying health issues. In case any of us are asymptomatic, I want to be sure that we are not sharing whatever (if anything) we are carrying.
Let me wine you
Have you heard about the latest fad on Facebook called “Wining”? It is merely a group of people, usually women – Beer Bros is for the guys from what I hear – that leave baskets of goodies on doorsteps of others in the group. These baskets include anything from wine to coloring books, from kitchen towels to snacks, succulents to pool toys, etc. I was in a group near my town and received an adorable basket and absolutely loved it. When I went to go thank this wonderful lady in the group I realized I had been kicked out.
I’m not much of a badass so I’m not 100% sure what I did. Prior to being kicked out I noticed they were mentioning screenshots being taken and sent to people not in the group. The only thing I could think is that was what I did wrong. Though I never sent it to anyone, I did take a few screenshots so that I could purchase stuff by looking at the picture vs me trying to find the post over and over again. Either way, I do want to spoil people because it is fun. It allows me to go shopping a little, give you ladies something you like, and honestly, giving makes me happy. Everyone wins.
Since I am in my final stages of this pregnancy I decided to hold a short contest to decide who would be the recipient of this package.
What do I have to do?
- Subscribe to my blog if you don’t already. You can do so by entering your email address on the right hand side of this page.
- Share this post to a social media platform and let me know (in the comments) which one. Letting me know which one helps to verify it is there.
- Tell me a pregnancy story with in the comments section below (COVID related would be even better). Never pregnant? That’s okay too, just leave me some positive thoughts or ideas on what else I can add to the basket. Maybe ingredients for one of our recipes?
The small rules I have:
- You will only be entered once
- You have to be willing to share your address with me – how else will you get these goodies?
- Must have subscribed by June 13, 2020
- Winner announced by June 30, 2020
I am so excited to share happiness and kindness right now during all of these troubling times. Hoping it brightens your day too!
